In my family are me, my sisters, my mom, and my step-dad. Some of the things I like to do in my spare time are ride bike, do archrery, play video games and hang out with friends. When I grow up I would like to be a videogame tester. My job would be to play video games all day long. Playing video games like Call of Duty makes me happy. My sisters make me mad when they are mean to me. If I could do anything right now I would be sleeping.
I learned that I am a visual learner, this means that I learn the best when I see how something is done. I think I use my visual learning in video games when I am learning something new like learning how to jump. For example in Call of Duty the game shows you what buttons to press on the screen.
I thought I would want to be a videogame tester but now I do not want to be a video game tester because I would get bored of it. perhaps I would want to make the game I think it would be fun animating the game.
Hi Jared.
1. I would really like you to go back and turn your answers into complete sentences. I am not sure about the last answer. What kinds of activities do you really like to do in your spare time? Do that one instead.
2. I am not sure if you had time to do the learning styles inventory? If not, could you do that after you fix your answers.
Tell me what your learning style is and why you think that makes sense for you.
3. We will have to find out what a video game tester needs for training. If you get the learning styles inventory finished, why don’t you do a quick google search and see what you find out and let me know.

Hi Jared, I like your answers much better now although I am still not sure I get the last one. I am slow to catch on sometimes- you need to explain things to me-slowly.
1. Today I would like you to tell me what you discovered about your learning styles. Mr. Klix said you finished answering the questions last time. What type of learner were you? Does that make sense for you when you think about it? Do you think that knowing what style you are helps you to do well in school and/or study for tests?

You can use point form for your answers, but please remember to include details.

I finally figured out where you posted your answers. Good thinking. I totally agree with you-there are a lot of really good skills we learn from playing video games. Research is showing that people that play video games have a lot of the skills that the modern workplace employer is looking for. I have even read articles that show that some employers will look for people who play video games for certain jobs. Video game simulation type activities are even being used for a lot of on-the-job training. So, don’t quit playing those video games!
I think we will switch gears for a little bit and I would like you to work on a project about reading facial expressions. It is always important to be able to figure what other people are feeling. One of the best ways of doing that is by reading people’s facial expressions.
1. I have two videos for you to watch. Go to the student video page and watch video #9-38 facial expressions in 1 minute and video #11-Mrs. Smart’s Facial Expression Video.
2. I would like you to attempt a video of your own. You will need to find some people to make some facial expressions for you. I would hit up Mr. Klix and some of the other staff in the building. You could get students as well, as long as you are not interrupting them while they are in class.
3. Perhaps you and Mr. Klix could brainstorm for a list of facial expressions- probably 8-10 is lots, but feel free to do more if you like. Try to think of ones that are are harder than “happy” or “sad”.
4. Grab a digital camera and get your pictures first.
5. Make your video. I used the program animoto.com to make my video and I really like it because it is really easy to use, you do not have to use much dialogue and you have lots of choices for music to use for your background. It does all the work for you and it is easy to upload it to Youtube. When you get to that point, I will give you my user name and password because I pay for a subscription that does not limit the length of the videos.

I have not watched your video yet, because I don’t know where to find it. Where did you guys put your photo story when you were done?
I think we will take it easy today and I don’t think you guys watched the video series under student video called, “My Crazy Life”. There are 3 parts to it. It will be better to grab a pair of headphones and listen to it using them.
